That is exactly what I was thinking. Doubled from when? That is just a trashy unquantifiable statement.
I don't understand why there is so much analysis on shipment results?
All we know is that by June 30th:
Nintendo had shipped 52.6 million wii's to retailers.
Microsoft had shipped 31.4 million 360's to retailers.
Sony had shipped 23.8 million ps3's to retailers.
All doing fine. End of.
Cough cough
it is clear they have absolutely no idea what they are on about. The ps3 wins because it nearly outsold the 360 and gained more revenue?
You need to consider actual sales and profits (NOT revenues) to determine the success of a product. I agree the ps3 did very well this quarter but financially it still has a long way to go to compete. I would not consider a console that has completely wiped out the profits of the ps2 and ps1 to be a success. Not a financial one anyway. In fact...
Generation is determined by release date not by graphical power. You really think if the wii sold similarly to its competitiors it would be left out? Its just convenient for it to be left out because arguments for dominance on both sides would be rendered meaningless. Sorry but thats just the way it is.
The silly fanboys should eat their own words but IMO this article doesn't show me why! As I posted below Sony did well this quarter to keep with MS but the winner is still nintendo.
'sold' and 'shipped' are easily transferable when they infer completely different things. In reality sony shipped 100K less than MS shipped.
Anyway, although it seems strange to say, I agree that Sony 'beat' MS this quarter despite being outsold. Although I'm still most impressed with the wii, the ps3 has surprised me and is doing very well in holding its own without a price cut.
However I must say that to keep this close would be more impressive during busier qu...
This really is a great, unbiased analysis awy from the squillions of flaimbait articles around. Really worth a read.
Yep the data is wrong, so called analysists who cannot even present correct data to represent their 'arguments.'
I know. Ive heard millions of predictions before and this one is just as useless becuase nobody knows what will happen! Ask someone if back in 2005 what would happen and they would have replaced the ps3 for the wii.
typial middle England fool.
Tony Blair was the best PM we have had in a long time and Gordon Brown was a brilliant chancellor who introduced stable fiscal rules to encourage investment into our economy which finally enabled us to catch up to countries such as France, Germany and Italy. I dread the next conservative government which will undo all the good work and increase inequality once again. But then again who cares eh, if your privalidged no one below you should have rights...
It is not the 360 that is responsible for MS problems in their ED division. In particualr it is the poor showing of products such as Zune.
well the same thing helped Sony's PR messages in 2008 when they compared 2007 sales vs 2008. I seem to remember many people on here at the time saying that improving yoy sales is hugely important (and I agree) so why can the 360 not have the same excuse? The ps3 should see similar results next year and will yoy comparisons be irrelevent then? Somehow I think not!
like Sony and Nintendo are going to struggle this quarter when they publish their results on the 29th. What wonders would a improving economy and a price cut do for them I wonder!
Well done Reaper for not spotting sarcasm. And then he stereotypes once again! Haha this is just going round and round.
MS own shipped numbers show they were at 5.5 million. Vgchartz is an excellent source for historical data as it is company reports that it goes off. I'd trust it far more than random blogs and numbers fanboys have made up to prove an argument.
has forgotten Nintendo and so what his comment really means is that Microsoft was the only company Sony despite being the only one with 3 pieces of hardware on the market.
I think you could be onto something there. How many accounts do some people have?!
however there are just enough haters around to prey on anything they can.
His teammate is right there with him?!? Thats why his teammate finished 6th last year in a car that Lewis won the championship in? IMO he is the best because he beat the then best driver Alonso in his rookie season in the same car. Amazing.
you have a point but expectations have had to change. Sony expected to eventually be in the wii's position but that was just not possible. They have a more grounded view now which is good as they will take extra care to focus on the consumer's wants. As for sales, the most they can hope for is to margianlly 'beat' the 360 to second place. However as long as you enjoy the games, who cares? To this day I've loved my Gamecube more than any other console.
